will be cooler. 50s. here is sal. >>> steve, good morning. northbound 101 looks good approaching the 80 split with no major problems. also this morning we are looking at the westbound bay bridge. it is 5:00 let's go back to the desk. >>> 5:00. over night news chp searching for witnesses to a deadly crash on a san mateo freeway. three people were killed on highway 92 in foster city. tara moriarty is here now just got some new information about those victims. tara. >> reporter: we just got off the phone with the chp we have learned two of the three people that died were actually brothers and they were only 12 and 16 years old. the driver was 21. he also died. two others survived. both 18 years old. one walked away with minor injuries. the other is at stanford medical center right now with major injuries fighting for his life. he is also a brother of the two brothers who died. a very tragic situation. right now the chp doesn't know what caused the crash. it happened here near the foster city boulevard exit. they had to shut down two lanes of eastbound 92 for three hours after the driver of what

[ inaudible ] >> reporter: officers the chief himself and people who supported the new crime fighting program were booed and heckled. community members had to ask repeatedly for the gallery to quiet down. a police tactic called stop and frisk. it is supported by bill bratton former l.a. police chief. bratton who has helped reduce crime in l.a. and new york city
. here is sal. >>> steve, we have a problem on the peninsula i will get to in a moment. on the golden gate bridge the traffic does look good heading south. i want to show you the maps here if i can. there is a big problem on the peninsula southbound 280 at wood side road. car and several deer on the road collided. injury crash. and now the freeway is almost entirely blocked. you can take 101 as your alternative. we will have more on this coming up in a few. let's go back to the desk. >>> last night firefighters in hayward discovered an unresponsive woman after an apartment house caught fire. apartment fire. alex savidge is there. >> reporter: good morning. this woman hospitalized right now is what we understand. we are working right now to get more information from the hayward fire department on her exact condition. this was an elderly woman. she was pulled out of her second story apartment here. this is the second story unit we are showing you right now. last night. the woman suffered burns and smoke inhalation. this fire broke out just about 9:30 last night. crews on scene tell us i

in the way of cloud buildups today. upper 40s and low 50s. here is sal. >>> traffic on highway 4 bay point you can see it moving along pretty well. san francisco northbound 101 traffic also looks good approaching the 80 split. let's go back to the desk. >>> we are following breaking news right now from the east bay. ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is in oakland where there is a raid going on. tara what can you tell us? >> reporter: if you take a look over here to my right to the right you can see this is the house that was actually raided just moments ago. and some of the people who live in that home were allowed back inside. officers have been questioning them but they're not under arrest. others were arrested. we're in the max well park neighborhood off interstate 5580. just after 5:00 this morning officers moved in. this is about one of half a dozen raids taking place this morning. we are told this operation the riskiest. these are alleged gang members. the search is still going on at this time. when we first arrived we did spot the police helicopter. neighbors did report hearing

to go -- good to go for saturday, here is sal. >>> highway 4, as you drive through to the willow pass grade, it is already slow in antioch as you might imagine. you are looking good on 280, and let's go out to janine de la vega, she is on the scene of a big-rig crash which make people use a different route. jeanine? >> reporter: we are here in the northbound lanes of highway 101 -- [ technical difficulties, stand by ] >> reporter: we are told traffic is backed up for miles because of a big-rig which crashed and spilled fuel and it all happened just before 3:00 a.m., they crashed into 40 feet of guardrail and a light pole. there is a lot of swifted -- twisted light and metal. it leaked 30 gallons of fuel onto the freeway. no other vehicles were involved but traffic is inching along in the northbound lanes. chp is working with caltrans to clean up this mess. >> fortunately this happened before 3:00 a.m. so there was not a lot of traffic on the roadway and he did only receive minor injuries and no other vehicles were hit as well. >> reporter: now the driver of the big-rig told cnbc sha
in san jose and morgan hill, here is sal. >>> traffic does look pretty good if you are driving around the bay area, no major problems driving on 880 southbound as you drive to oakland. this is northbound 101 traffic approaching the 880 split, let's go back to the desk. >>> there is new developments in the case of a man setting his girlfriend on fire. oliver was taken into custody at 9:00 last night at a motel in oakland. he was booked on arson and murder charges. he doused his girlfriend with gasoline and lit her on fire after the couple got into an argument outside of a laudromat. she is now in the hospital with critical injuries. >>> the coast guard will meet with the man who sideswiped the bay bridge. here is more about the bar pilot. >> reporter: a few moments ago a spokesperson confirmed their people will be doing an interview with the bar pilot who was at the control of yesterday's ship. it sideswiped one of the bay bridges, 750-foot oil tanker now remains docked as this investigation unfolds. he has 8 years of experience. the accident happened at a time when heavy fog cut visi
on an undercover officer shooting. sal castanedo has more. sal? >> reporter: well, an  undercover police officer was shot last night just down the street past that oakland police s.w.a.t. van. in the last hour we've seen police making new arrests. this video of officers in front of the apartment building where we saw arrests being made. several search warrants were served on that apartment building down the street. last night's shooting happened on seminary near international. police say men confronted an undercover officer and shot him in the arm. that officer was injured but is expected to survive. he's already released from the hospital and is said to be resting at home. police say one person was captured immediately after the shooting. another one was arrested early this morning. just a few moments ago, we saw three people being taken away by police. so that's five. police believe the suspects are members of an oakland gang. the undercover officer was part of an investigation into another shooting here last weekend that left two men seriously injured. police say it's unclear whether the shoo

it will be a cool and breezy day. here is sal. >>> we have a major crash in berkeley on 80 eastbound that has been blocking lanes for a bit. you can still see activity there for a bit. let's go to tara moriarty who is there on the scene with more details. good morning, tara. >> reporter: it's a little hard to hear you out here because it's so noisy. we're on the university avenue overpass. i don't know if you can see where the flashing lights are. that is the westbound direction. on the other side is where the accident happened it looks like all lanes are clear. but if we take a look at the video we shot a couple minutes ago you can see there is a charcoal gray colored car. it hit the center divider. the car spun out right near the ash by avenue exit and another car came along and broadsided it. two more cars were involved in the crash. four cars total. we understand the driver of the initial car is a male driver. he was transported to a nearby hospital. we don't know the extent of his injuries. if you look at the video you can tell he got hit pretty badly there. initially the chp issued a sig ale
